When I left my corporate job in the summer of 2015 to stay home with my children, money was tight.

Before quitting my job, my husband and I had crunched the numbers and we knew that with some sacrifice, we could make it work on only one income.

But it wasn’t easy, and we certainly struggled a bit.

So I decided to get creative and try and find as many ways as I could to help us out financially, whether it was cutting back on our expenses and learning to live more frugally or seeking out opportunities to generate a bit of income.

In this post, I’d like to share with you the different ways I have discovered to make money as a stay-at-home mom.

Hopefully, you’ll find some helpful information here and perhaps you’ll be able to start your own side hustle as well!

Work-From-Home Job Opportunities

Below you will find several work-from-home job opportunities. These are all legitimate work-from-home positions (I even work for one of them!) that offer flexible hours and reliable pay.

Work-from-home positions are not always easy to come by, but I will update this list as I learn about more opportunities (so make sure to check this post often).

ESL Teaching

I have previously worked from home part-time for a company called Qkids. They are based out of Xiamen, China and have been in business since 2015.

As an online ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher with Qkids, I got to teach English to kids in China each morning from my home computer.

It’s incredible to me that I was able to reach students halfway across the world, and get paid to do it! It was an incredibly fun job (one I only recently decided to step away from, in order to spend more time working on my blog) that paid great money for such a small time commitment.

The pay for this job is between $16-20 per hour, and they allow a flexible schedule where you can work whichever days and times you’d like, within their available time slots.

Stitch Fix

Become an online stylist with Stitch Fix!

I wasn’t fortunate enough to be eligible to apply for a stylist position at Stitch Fix due to my location. You must live in one of the approved cities in order to work for them.

My sister, who lives in Pittsburgh, has been working with Stitch Fix as a stylist for a couple of years now, and she loves it! They offer flexible hours and great pay.

Rev

I haven’t personally worked for Rev, but only because I’ve been too busy to take on any extra work lately.

However, I do have friends who work from home as transcriptionists for Rev and really enjoy it.

You can earn a couple hundred dollars a month working whatever hours you’d like. No experience required.

User Testing

UserTesting pays you to visit websites or apps, complete a set of tasks, and speak your thoughts aloud. You’ll earn $10 for every 20-minute video you complete, paid via PayPal.

Disney Travel Agent

If you love all things Disney, you might consider becoming a Disney Travel Agent.

Payment ranges anywhere from part-time to full-time income, so this could potentially turn into even more than a side gig, depending on how hard you work to find clients.

Some popular Disney Travel Agencies include: Marvelous Mouse Travels, Magic Guides, and Off to Neverland.

Cash Back & Rewards Programs

Don’t have enough time to invest in an actual part-time job, but still need to find easy ways to earn some extra money? Don’t worry, mama — I’ve got you covered.

The following options won’t bring in the big bucks but will enable you to earn a little cash or free gift cards. Every little bit helps, right?

Check out the links below for ways to earn a bit of cash with very little time investment or effort on your part.

Swagbucks

I earn gift cards and cash (paid through PayPal) with Swagbucks by simply using their search tool, answering surveys, viewing videos, and completing other quick, easy tasks.

In fact, I easily earned a few hundred dollars to put towards our most recent family vacation by using this app!

Rakuten (formerly Ebates)

I have used Rakuten (Ebates) for a couple of years now, and have earned over $850 in cash back simply by shopping like I normally would. The cash back you earn is deposited into your PayPal account on a quarterly basis.

Ibotta

I earn cash back when I use Ibotta for grocery purchases and for other local shopping trips.

I love how easy it is to use! When I am planning a shopping trip, I simply open my Ibotta app and select the items on my list. Then, I go shopping and when I am done, I scan my receipt into the Ibotta app and my cash back is immediately credited to my Ibotta account!

You do need to earn a minimum of $20 to cash out, but once you do, you can elect to have it transferred straight to your PayPal account.

Choose either the General Transcription course or the Legal Transcription course, and learn how to work from home as a transcriptionist.

Proofreading

Do you have sharp eyes, a keen attention to detail, and excellent grammar skills? If so, a job as a part-time work-from-home proofreader might be the perfect fit for you!
